Why you can’t change the theme and wallpaper on PS5 and how to change it on PS3/PS4
Sony's PlayStation 5 is the company's latest and most impressive video game console. Moreover, it is expected to become the best-selling console in history. At least until the next one is released. A wide range of games and apps are supported on the device, as well as high refresh rates of up to 120Hz. In the case of many new users, changing the PS5 theme will be their first priority. Is it possible to customize PS5's UI by applying new wallpapers or even a theme?
Can you change the theme and/or background on PS5?
No. PS5 has a dynamic home screen, so the wallpaper changes accordingly when you select a game. Consequently, PS5 does not have any settings for customizing the theme and background by default.
Players could customize the home screen of their past PlayStation devices (PS3 & PS4) by applying new wallpapers and themes.
PS4 has a feature that allows users to download and apply themes instantly. Users could also set custom themes and wallpapers. So, how can you do all this in PS5? Well, you can't as Sony has not implemented this on their latest console.
How to change the theme and wallpaper on PS3 & PS4
Here is the process required to change the theme in PS3 and PS4.
- Navigate to the Settings menu from the main menu.
- Select Themes.
- Choose whichever theme suits your fancy on the Select Theme screen.
- You may also be able to set the theme to a color of your choice, depending on which you choose
- You can also select Custom to set a wallpaper image of your choice.
Eventually, we can only hope to see the same functionality on PS5.
We were not able to access a theme download or installation option in any of the UIs we observed. We anticipate that this won't change anytime soon.
